Kandolhu Maldives is delighted to announce its next culinary collaboration with celebrated Lima-born chef Claudia Canessa, taking place from 30 April to 4 May 2026. Over five days, guests will be invited to discover the bold, expressive flavours of Peruvian cuisine, interpreted through Chef Canessa’s refined, contemporary lens.
Best known for her acclaimed restaurant Amaru in St. Moritz, Chef Canessa has earned international recognition for blending the soul of Peruvian cooking with the elegance and restraint of Swiss gastronomy. Her culinary philosophy draws from South American traditions, the precision of Japanese techniques, and the vibrant influences of Mexican flavours, resulting in dishes that are layered, aromatic, and perfectly balanced.
During her residency at Kandolhu, Chef Canessa will present a selection of her most celebrated creations, including her signature ceviche interpretations, Tuna Chicano with lemon zest, and a refined salmon tiradito with yuzu ponzu. Each dish reflects her mastery of spice, acidity, and texture—bold yet never overpowering.
The programme includes daily Special Peruvian Lunches at Ato Roa from 30 April to 3 May, with two intimate seatings per day, followed by a four-course surprise dinner at Olive Restaurant on 4 May, limited to just 14 guests.

From 13–15 June 2026, elite anglers from around the world are invited to compete in the Maldives’ premier sport fishing event, organized by Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC). The tournament celebrates the nation’s fishing heritage while promoting adventure tourism and sustainable catch-and-release practices.
- Competition: 3 full days, 05:00–18:30, following IGFA international standards.
- Prizes: Top cash prize USD 25,000, plus Champion Team, Best Captain, and Best Angler titles.
- Registration: Open now until 30 April 2026 (late registration until 31 May).

Across Maldives 2026
Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has announced "Across Maldives 2026," an ambitious underwater record attempt by Maldivian diver Shafraz Naeem. Set to begin on January 23, 2026, the expedition marks the inaugural record attempt of the year for the Visit Maldives Book of Records.
Across Maldives 2026 will see Shafraz attempt two records as he journeys underwater across three atolls. Over 15+ days, he will dive more than 450 kilometres, completing around 55 dives and spending over 90 hours underwater using a Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV). The official record categories include:
- Longest distance covered in open ocean on a single dive using a DPV
- Longest distance covered using a DPV within one month
The initiative is designed to introduce a new era of adventure-based storytelling for the Maldives, positioning the nation as an Ocean Nation and a world-class destination for marine, adventure, and experiential tourism. The journey will highlight the Maldives’ unique underwater landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and extraordinary cultural connections to the sea.
Shafraz will make scheduled stopovers across selected islands, supported by partner, hotels and local councils. The expedition will be documented through underwater videography, island visit highlights, interviews, and sustainability-focused storytelling, offering global audiences an immersive view of the Maldives’ marine heritage.
