Dhoonier Wreck Coral Planting Initiative
This landmark initiative, organized by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Visit Maldives in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and Public Service Media (PSM) for the Asia Media Summit 2026, will bring together international media delegates and industry representatives from across the globe for a unique and impactful environmental experience in the Maldives.
As a special closing activity of the summit, delegates will participate in a coral planting initiative at sea, where coral fragments will be carefully attached to specially designed frames. These coral frames will later be installed at the Dhoonier Wreck site in the Kudagiri lagoon, contributing to the restoration and enhancement of the marine ecosystem in the area.
The initiative aims to create a meaningful and hands-on experience for participants while raising awareness on the importance of marine conservation, reef restoration, and sustainable tourism practices. Through this collaborative effort, the event not only showcases the natural beauty of the Maldives but also reinforces the country’s strong commitment towards environmental sustainability and the protection of its fragile marine biodiversity.
By taking part in this symbolic activity, delegates will leave behind a lasting environmental legacy in the Maldives, creating a memorable connection between global media leaders and the country’s ongoing conservation efforts.
